Fazenda Campos Novos

A historic complex in Tamoios tied to colonisation, enslaved labour and regional memory.

Founded by the Society of Jesus in 1690, Fazenda Campos Novos includes a former residence and the Church of Santo Inácio. The municipal page records its cultural heritage value, its connection to the period of slavery and its state heritage listing by Inepac in 2003.

Two municipal pages connect Charles Darwin's passage through Campos Novos in 1832 with explanations of quartz in the region's geological deposits. Those accounts are included here without inventing a separate visitor site. Check access conditions with the local authorities.
